About this rating

Raw average: 3.27/5 from 11 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Dr Brar is definitely better than other instructors in the department, but I think he still have quite some rooms for improvement. I wished he paid more attention to student's questions since the slides can sometimes be confusing.

Split class lecturing with Professor Balantekin; lecture slides were helpful, but attending class was 1000% the most important part. Homework was usually due once a week and relevant for the exams -- the TAs were by far the best resource and very helpful for both homework and exams. Labs could be confusing, but grading was workable/reasonable.

He and Pupa Gilbert split taught 109. Pupa was great, but Victor fell short. His lectures were rushed and confusing. I stopped going to the last two weeks of lectures and just taught myself with the textbook, lab, and online materials. I didn't feel like he cared about the material or the students. He wasn't a bad teacher, just not a good one.

Well intentioned, but not clear in expectations. Confusing when showing ways to solve problems. Could work on his lecturing skills.

Quality 3/5Difficulty 4/5
It is clear that he is a nice guy but the class is very poorly organized. Gave practice exams and did not have the matching answer keys and did not respond to multiple Piazza questions asking to fix this. Also, rarely gets through his slides and often skips over harder concepts.

He's nice and seems to care but this class is hard as hell and he def doesn't lighten it up. He seems to take what students say to heart about how rough the class is but can't do anything about it. Tests are hard, his lectures are pretty unclear.
