The class is super interesting and although there's a lot of busy work, if you do it you can get an A. There's two test, tophat for attendance, a couple little projects, and this service learning project that just racks up volunteer hours and builds your resume hardcore. Very interesting class. She is your go to girl if you have an interest in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as those are the children that she works with and talks most about. There are 2 tests, a book club group project, a pamphlet and a paper. Content is super easy and surface level, but lecture is 3 hours long. Extremely opinionated.Rate My Professors ↗
Glenis Benson is opinionated and stubborn. Don't bother emailing her with a question, she will give you a mean and rude response. Not helpful at all, the TA was a life saver. I would recommend the class but NOT the professor.Rate My Professors ↗
Glenis is one of the most opinionated professors I have ever encountered at UW. It is always her way or the highway. Her class is not very difficult but I would definitely not take another class that she teaches.Rate My Professors ↗
She is a VERY interesting professor, but can be very opinionated. She uses TopHat, and I wasn't a fan of that. It's an easy class, but there aren't that many grades: Midterm, Pamphlet Project, Service Learning Project, and the Final. I loved the service component of the class. Professor Benson was the sassiest Canadian woman I have ever met. She is fun in lecture, but sometimes her concepts get a little confusing. Her lectures are loaded with examples, and her exams are all applying concepts. She uses TopHat to track attendance and participation and offers a lot of extra credit.
