About this rating

Raw average: 4.20/5 from 15 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

I've seen some prior complaints that Professor Kim gives too much work/readings. These are HISTORY courses. Professor Kim is one of the kindest and most easygoing professors I have had. Prepare to have to watch some videos and read more each week. The guy has a lot of knowledge, ask him questions and enjoy the experience.

A short paper every week. Peer reviews every week. Hours-long movies on top of readings and papers almost every other week. Too much work to enjoy learning

I hate that every link is just a link to google drive. Minor but lazy. With a full semester, time is important to me, please have the files embedded on canvas. Assigns 3 big readings and hours-long videos then have to write a report disguised as "discussion" Never had a class this annoying. I'm petty because he thinks this is the only class we take

Sucks the fun out of learning about Korea. Prof doesn't grade anything, hope you get a non-power-hungry grader. 3-4 hrs of reading/class, 500 words min. per reading.Peer review weekly.Classmates shouldn't have much of an impact on my grade. Wanted to learn about Korea before signing up but if you have other classes, takes up too much time and energy

He is a very nice guy but I feel like Ive learned nothing in his class. He spends the first 30min rambling about random things . He sets out the plans for the class or homework and then keeps changing his mind. Say something and stick with it plz most infuriating thing Ive ever dealt with. I never know what were doing in class.

By far my favorite class I've taken at UW. The class is front loaded so the beginning of the semester is a lot of work, but reduces at the half way point. Class is really discussion based and readings are interesting and analysis based. He's super willing to offer you help on your papers. He's a really chill guy
