About this rating

Raw average: 4.29/5 from 56 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Pretty good professor! Lectures can be a bit unclear at times, but the slides + office hours are really helpful!

Online canvas modules with weekly podcasts and a synchronous discussion. Lots of reading and weekly discussion posts. The homework is at times overwhelming with the essays. Sometimes it felt like he was more focused on themes of gender roles than the actual events of the WW1, but I did learn a lot about the societal background of the time.

HISTORY 350
Quality 4/5Difficulty 2/5
History 350 is an online course with Usisshkin and was great overall. There is a lot of assignments and discussions because it is an online course so you have to stay on top of your work. The tests and papers have very clear grading and it's not hard to get an A if you try. He doesn't make WWI boring and is a great overall online class!

I would absolutely take this class again, but it was not my favorite. Ussishkin isn't the best lecturer, but he's very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject and his students. I would say if you don't enjoy history to some extent, this class isn't for you. The class was basically pass/fail, so if you put effort in, you will get an A.

Quality 5/5Difficulty 2/5
Professor Ussishkin was great. In a small seminar environment, he did a really good job of facilitating a super engaging discussion and you could tell he really cares about what he teaches. He's definitely not the clearest professor when it comes to putting stuff on canvas, but he's a super easy grader so if you put the effort in, you'll get an A.

Ive taken 2 classes with Daniel and loved them both. His lectures are funny and engaging, and I never found the tests to be very difficult. The only downside to his classes is the amount of reading, though I managed to get an AB in both without doing most of them . I loved both classes so much that I will be taking another class this summer.
