Loh is an excellent statistician but not a good lecturer. 40% midterm and 50% final. There are only a hundred pages of lecture slides throughout the semester, so be ready to read through them. The midterm was tricky, questions were never expected, and not the same as the practice exam if you have to take this class with him, good luck.Rate My Professors ↗
overall, a very nice professor and funny to listen to in class but; - the course was extremely difficult - lecture notes are just hundreds of pages of code output with barely any annotation - if you miss what he says during a lecture there is no recording to look back on - no help on homework during office hours, only in class during lecture.Rate My Professors ↗
Never separate lecture slides, put almost 200 pages in one file at mid-Nov :). Never answer any question about homework both in lectures and oh since it should be treated as "exams". Vague content in lecture. Hwk and exams are not very related.Rate My Professors ↗
I was not a stat student before and it is really hard for me to learn all these. He is away from the topics all the time. Lecturer has nothing to do with the exam and for a non-stats major student, I don't even know what those are all about. Professor Loh is a fantastic lecturer. Full of energy, a bit off the wall, knowledgable and application focused. You can't really go wrong with his classes. However, his lectures can be a bit daunting and paying attention in lecture is needed.Rate My Professors ↗
Wei Yin Loh is a very captivating lecturer. I wasn't once bored in his class. Although he is pioneer in his field, he is still very approachable and down to earth. I really enjoyed stat 443. 60% of your grade is the final project though.Rate My Professors ↗
