I suggest that he stops teaching. He just copies and pastes the textbook into his lectures. When he walks from one side of the stage to the other, he stops and heaves into the microphone. It's awkward to hear him breathing that heavily into the microphone. I only passed this class because my TA was great.

Lectures were awful, I couldn't read his handwriting & not recorded. My TA (Weng-Him Cheung) was the ONLY reason I passed this class and he is the best TA I've ever had. The class is extremely hard, I attended the math center group tutoring twice a week. Get help outside of class to pass, I didn't think I would. Never learned from Lempp directly.

He wasn't a great lecturer. His accent made class challenging to understand and his handwriting was often obscure. I stopped showing up to lectures when I realized learning calc from youtube was MUCH easier and helped me infinitely more than Steffen did. But don't expect much from Madison's math department.

After taking this class, Lempp is a good 400-500 level professor, but for general calc it was difficult because of the teaching style. I had a great TA and worked my butt off to do well in this class. It is tough but doable. If you have the option, take it with someone else.

Avoid Steffen Lempp at all costs if possible. This guy was an absolute maniac. He called out students for not wearing their masks even if it was just slightly below their nose. I had to work crazy hard to get the A. If I didn't come in with prior calc experience, I would've been toast. I genuinely feel so sad for those coming into this class w/o it
