Gives great lectures and is good at putting on a friendly, personable front, but behind the scenes talks badly about his students and is very disrespectful.
The best professor of the Bio 152 class! Material is pretty easy, and he is well prepared with his lecture and discussion material. Textbook readings were not necessary for his unit. Thanks to review materials, you know exactly what to expect for the exam.
Dr. Sharma speaks very fast during lecture and he often goes on a tangent, so it is difficult in what we needed to know for the exam. His lectures are boring and is hard to keep up as he just keeps on talking. However, he provides practice sets, which helps us study for the exam.
He was my favorite of the three lecturers for BIO152, and was very clear about what was going to be on the test. He would sometimes go on tangents but they were interesting and he made it clear that the very in depth content would not be on the test.
I would never recommend prof Sharma's class to anyone. He is incredibly boring and presents the material in a disorganized way making it extremely difficult to understand what you do and do not need to know. His assignments are unnecessarily difficult and long. They are very unaccommodating course coordinators in biology 152, avoid this class.
Sharma's lectures are usually very interesting, but sometimes he will go on tangents, and one class period he spent the whole time on an evolution simulator, which was hard to keep up with. I really like how he gives practice questions for us to practice the exam.
This guy was terrible. His lectures were poorly organized, his ideas were not clearly explained. The course content was not engaging, if you could hear him. His homework was extremely long for no reason. His exam was extremely hard. Terrible lecturer, I would fire him if I could.
He spoke to fast most of the time could not actually learn much from him.
Overall he was very clear about what was going to be tested on the exams. That being said, his lectures were like trying to understand a fever dream. I went to class for the participation points but genuinely did not comprehend a single thing during the 5 weeks. You will end up teaching yourself the material for this reason.
I HAVE NOT SPOKENN TO A SINGLE MF WHO LIKES THIS GUY. HE READS SLIDES BACKWARDS. HE TALKS SOOO FAST. HIS SLIDES ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE. HE Makes me hate going to biology AND I LOVE BIOLOGY. I MISS MCCULLOH
He was probably one of the BEST lecturers I have had at Madison. He was a way of making students engaged, even though the material might not be the most fascinating. He's very clear on what will be on the exam, and his practice exam was nearly identical to the real thing.
Dr. Sharma, is an excellent professor, with a true joy and love for his subject and has a certain alacrity for the course. What I really liked about Dr. Sharma was his ability to very clear tell us what stuff would be on the exam and what stuff to focus in on. What I also liked about Dr. Sharma was his willingness to answer questions during class.
Dr. Sharma was overall a good professor. He was very clear on what would be on the exam and provided a practice exam as well.
I really liked his lectures because for the most part, he was right to the point and told you what was important to know for exams. There were some lectures where he went into much further detail than necessary, but overall he had clear learning goals for everyone.
Dr. Sharma makes his expectations very clear, and you can tell he cares a lot about students and the course content. He's also funny and always makes lectures enjoyable. Make sure to pay close attention to lectures and take detailed notes!
Professor Sharma is very smart and knows his stuff; however, his lectures include a ton of information that is complex and he won't even cover it on the test. I feel as though he spends more time talking about interesting facts rather than covering the material we really need to know on the exam. He's nice and also accessible outside of class.
Dr. Sharma is extraordinarily knowledgable about current research in evolutionary biology and explains them very clearly. Lectures often went through recent studies and how they shape how we see the tree of life. Lectures are packed dense with information so don't skip and take good notes. Class is curved and some extra credit available.
Easily the best professor I've EVER had. He is excellent at making complex ideas understandable and is incredibly knowledgeable. You will learn a ton in this course. The content and exams are definitely challenging, but they're fair and have huge curves. If you came to college to get an education and not just a degree, this is the guy for you.
Nothing against Prashant, but he makes this class way harder than it should be. He makes some funny jokes, but the lectures are very boring and dense with information. There are only 2 exams and the final is worth 50% of your grade. They are ridiculously hard for absolutely no reason. I studied an insane amount and struggled to get above a 70%.
He is a nice professor and passionate about the course, but he throws A LOT of info at you in every lecture. There are only 2 tests for the class and they are extremely difficult with no curve. The online quizzes throughout the course are somewhat easy, but you really have to work to even get a C on the midterms.
I had three different lecturers for this class, and Professor Sharma was my favorite. You can tell he prepares for his lectures; he doesnt just read the words on the slide. They take attendance with an iclicker, but its only 1% of your grade. They have you buy a textbook, but you probably dont need to do the readings to do well on the tests.
Professor Sharma is a pretty good lecturer, but as the others said, he does talk quite fast and go through the slides fast. Overall, he's pretty good and takes questions and is pretty responsive to people who do ask. Just be courageous enough to ask. Also, I must say, that man is probably the best dressed out of all of the male profs out there.
Professor Sharma is not as bad as these other reviews make him out to be. The grading criteria and material being tested were extremely clear. Study even a small amount and you'll be fine.
He went through lecture slides really quickly but that was fine because they were always posted online along with audio. Pro tip: takes notes on the slides before coming to class and just add in what he says in the margins, that way you can sit back and enjoy his interesting lectures.
WORST PROF I'VE EVER HAD! He talked way too fast through his lecture slides and did not explain much at all. This was reflected in his exam, which many people did not do well on. He uses vocabulary that is way outside of an intro to bio course, but assumes that you know it anyways. Beware!
He talks very quickly, but if you listen and make a note to copy the slides later, his lectures are really interesting. The midterm was a lot harder than the quiz though.
He definitely knows what he's talking about but the way he presents the material is confusing and could be done in a much more organized way. His lectures were rushed and he assumed a good amount of background information be known without him covering it. Learned a lot but had to re listen to his lectures to fully understand his content.
Talks so fast during lectures and rushes through slides. Knows material thoroughly and explains things well during his review session before the exam. Use the textbook to make up the difference.
