About this rating

Raw average: 3.17/5 from 6 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Otegui is cryptic and vague with course/content requirements. You have no idea what your grade is until after exams because there is no curve and she uses a ridiculous grading system not outlined in the syllabus. The lectures seem irrelevant to the exams.

Pr. Otegui has an accent but if you make an effort to understand her its not a big deal. Lecture can be boring but the material was straight forward and fairly easy to understand. Her exam was not very difficult either. Overall not bad.

She had a high pitched accent that was hard to listen to while you were taking notes. The slides were packed with drawings that were hard to copy down and understand as she explained them. Overall she seemed like a nice person but I constantly felt rushed with the amount of information per lecture. Highly recommend taking notes ahead of time.

Overall very good professor. If you put the time into learning the material, you will do fine. Class involves a large group project --choose your group wisely. There are extra credit opportunities too! Definitely go to lecture, but if you miss - slides are posted online.

Read her slides straight off the Powerpoint; what can I say-this method of "teaching" no longer impresses me.

A pretty decent professor. She was a little hard to understand at first because she has a strong accent. Her quizzes and the exam were all pretty consistent with what she taught. She expected everyone to be reading the book, though.
