Diabolical he has this low of rating when there are some stats professors that are miles worse. I think his lectures are great and motivates the topics well and the homeworks were pretty fair. My only gripe is that lecture material doesn't match test material as the tests are more applied whereas lecture and hw content is more theoretical.Rate My Professors ↗
Keith teaches 310 very rigorously but you grow and learn so much from taking his class. He's also a really nice guy and if you stop by his office hours, he'll provide helpful feedback. If you are a stats major, I'd recommend taking this class seriously and soaking in the material (as it is by far the most valuable class you will take in undergrad).Rate My Professors ↗
Keith cares about the content and explains material very clearly. The issue is that most students haven't been exposed to proof based math prior to taking 310. If statistics students were required to take a theoretical math course, 310 would be a breeze. His lecture is just more like a narcissism presentation. He can explain things, but he'd rather spend 2/3 of the time on proving a corollary than telling you what to learn from the lecture in 5 mins. And extremely high percentage on exam, but no practice exam, only tells you to go over hw and some irrelevant textbook Problem.Rate My Professors ↗
Homeworks were long but worth very little and only partially graded. Exams were intense but curved a lot because of difficulty. Difficult and overwhelming to prepare for the exams and Keith emphasizes that he does not have a lot of time to help students.Rate My Professors ↗
I just finished taking Stat 310, and I am shocked to see these low reviews. I thought he was great! Keith motivates every mathematical concept before getting into the theory (few professors do this), and he gives great explanations. Stat 310 may be in the Stats department, but it is a math class.
