About this rating

Raw average: 4.23/5 from 22 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

ART 108
Quality 4/5Difficulty 4/5
Doug is a little eccentric at first, but it's super easy to warm up to him. Even in large lectures he's always happy to chat before/after class and engages with students. He talks about a lot of abstract concepts that are sometimes tricky to understand but is willing to answer questions when needed. The class itself is work heavy, but Doug is great

Quality 5/5Difficulty 2/5
Doug is amazing and super cool. We dressed up as him for Halloween and he loved it. He gives great lectures, but his hearing isn't great so if you answer a question you might have to yell a little if you're in the back.

ART 208
Quality 3/5Difficulty 2/5
The class is really interesting, but all of the learning you do is done through sections and taught by the TAs. There isn't a point in really going to the lecture or even taking notes, except that attendance is mandatory. He mostly rambles, and almost none of the lecture content is on tests—nice guy, but just not my fav lecturer.

If you have the opportunity, please take a class with Doug. Every class was filled with insightful discussion that was tailored to the students' interests. He pushed us to do our very best in our projects beyond earning a high grade, which helped us to maximize our potential. We also had lots of snacks :)
