About this rating

Raw average: 2.35/5 from 173 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

PSYCH 405
Quality 3/5Difficulty 4/5
She is a passionate professor but her exams are not like her study guides. If you read the textbook you'll do fine, but do not rely on her lectures alone. She gets distracted so easily during her lectures, and it is hard to pay attention

You either love her or hate her. Her lectures are heavily based on stories from her life/career, which I enjoyed but I understand that it could not be for everyone. She can be kind of condescending sometimes ("it's in the slides" is said to most questions) but can also be very sweet.

Psych601 - Dr. Gooding is a very smart and eccentric professor. I don't think the current rating reflects her teaching ability accurately. Her teaching style involves a lot of story telling and constant review of material as a way to build off of what you have learned and just learned. Do the readings and participate in class and you will do well.

I thought that Professor Gooding was an amazing professor (although goes off topic occasionally)! I took this course over the summer and it was a lot of work, but if you keep up with the reading and lectures, the exams are pretty straightforward (but lots of application questions). Would recommend!

Dr. Gooding is the best professor I have ever had. She extremely smart and teaches the course in a great way. I find that people just complain about her because they are soft. exams are pretty hard but you will do fine.

Dr. Gooding is so knowledged in all areas of psychopathology. I enjoyed her teaching styles, but sometimes she only notes things in lectures and puts them on the test with little context. It is important to do the readings and complete the online assessments, otherwise your grade will be tanked. Attend lecture and take detailed notes.
