Use notes she gives you. Know 'em back and forward. I messed up, read the text and neglected the notes. The notes are most important, but there's a combination of material. Lectures are boring, but you gotta do it. Course says you don't need research methods, but the big paper kinda requires you to know how to construct a study. Again, this hurt meRate My Professors ↗

Professor Ryff is really passionate about her work, and it shines through. Her lectures have probably not changed in the past 20 years, so sometimes they are boring. But the class is informative, and the material covered in lectures and readings is straightforward. If you pay attention, you'll get a good grade and understand the material.Rate My Professors ↗
I like professor Ryff. She is easy-going, helpful and welcomes you to her office hour.Rate My Professors ↗
Definitely recommend taking a different class to fulfill development, like child psych, because she is a boring professor who mainly talks about her own research exclusively. Often does not allow time for students to write down any of her powerpoint slides. Waking up at 8 am to struggle to take notes because she reads off slides is not worth it.Rate My Professors ↗
Dr. Ryff is very knowledgeable about this topic but her lectures are long and dull. She doesn't present the material in a thoughtful or engaging way. The class is largely based off of the textbook, and you must read it to succeed in this class. There are 3 midterms and a term paper.Rate My Professors ↗
Many of her tests focus on the extra readings and graphs she describes in lecture. The tests are straight forward and fair. One big term paper due for the class that I would recommend starting earlier than later, but there's a lot of freedom in topics for the paper, so it's not bad. She's very enthusiastic about her work and I recommend this class.Rate My Professors ↗
