CARL GRANT

At first I was scared to take CURRIC406 because I saw the rate my professor ratings and it was scary seeing all the hate. Carl is a great professor who helps his students inside and outside the classroom. He is extremely passionate and a PSA to everyone, is people who leave reviews either had the worse or best experience, on my end, he is a 8/10!

Professor rarely came prepared with lecture material and instead would just ramble for 75 minutes. More than 3/4 of the advertised course content was never covered. He always took an "I'm right because I'm older than you" approach to feedback, which is not only frustrating, but a severely outdated argument.

This professor didn't come to class prepared ever. He approached the topic in ways that weren't equitable for all students. His own textbook is mandatory for the course, and he would preach the whole 75-min class about how good the book was. His preaching was often about equality for all, but then would often call out students based on their race.

Carl is SO passionate about his work and it shows. He tends to go on tangents during lectures that have a meaning, somewhere. He talks very cryptically and it is hard to draw conclusions to his lectures.

You can tell that he cares about his students.

Carl has real wisdom about teaching, learning, and being if you're willing to listen. He is bringing perspective and care that is truly impactful. Take the time to really listen, ask questions, and learn about the things he has witnessed and you will benefit from this class.
