While Bret was kind and always encouraged reaching out for help/office hours, he would sometimes assume students knew as much as he did. When asking for help, I felt a little confused based on how much jargon is required to understand current concepts. Any professor rating based on Stat240 should be 3 b/c of how standardized the course is. Every professor uses the same set of notes and does the same thing. Personally watched Bret's recordings until halfway through when I swapped to Bi who did lectures better IMO. The class was easy outside of the final. Overall, cram for tests and watch lectures.Rate My Professors ↗

TBH I did not try very hard in this class as I just want to add ds major and I took some similar classes before and had enough programming skills. But Bret was a really good professor. He just read his slide but his slide is really good and makes sense. Weekly projects took abt 3~4 hrs and exams can be hard. Not hard to pull an A in this class.Rate My Professors ↗

I loved the material in this class as an economics and data science double major. However Bret could of taught it better. He would just read off slides, so I stopped going to lecture and just watched them online. Class was pretty disorganized as well.
