REVEL SIMS

Revel Sims is the GOAT. I genuinely really enjoyed his Racial Formation and Whiteness course. He is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the content, and holds space for students to voice their opinions. He values student learning over everything, and advocates for students outside of the classroom. No exams, just reading and discussion.

I had Prof Sims for CHICLA 315** great class and amazing professor. He is really passionate about his teaching as well as making sure the students feel valued and their voices appreciated in class discussions.

I've had good classes with Revel before but not the one on gentrification. His slides can be hard to follow and filled with jargon. For the final project he didn't give clear instructions or a page minimum. He just said "make sure you answer thoroughly" but that's not helpful. He also doesn't know how to have difficult conversations in the class.

Professor Sims is a refreshing instructor. He is passionate about his coursework and teaching over grades. This made me and my peers excited to learn the material. Unless I was sick, I never missed a lecture because he made it enjoyable and interesting. He is available outside of class and as accommodating as he can be. Totally recommend.

This was the least stressful course that I took throughout my college career. No exams!! Professor Sims wanted students to ENJOY the material rather than MEMORIZE it. He gave AMAZING lectures and he was very knowledgable about the material. I wish I could have taken more classes with him!! He is one of the kindest professors I've ever met.

This class was a community based research class. We conducted two interviews, transcribed them and presented our findings at a community gathering. We used class time to talk about housing, and code our interviews into themes. The topic of the class varies every semester. Super easy A. Fun time, no pressure, no exams.
