About this rating

Raw average: 3.06/5 from 18 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Peter's nice and very accommodating but his lectures are BAD. You'll have to learn the material yourself but it isn't bad at all b/c the material he covers is pretty easy. Beyond that he's really lenient and gives relatively easy tests that are extremely predictable (think change some wording from practice exam predictable).

Grading isn't super clear IMO, also not as generous of grading as I expected given what has been said in the past. He rambles, class feels pointless sometimes.

He isn't a super great professor, but the class also isn't super hard. I would really recommend taking it with someone else to understand what is going on. He rambles a lot and it would be a much easier class if he walked through problems. Also he mentioned he's requiring attendance next semester, so just a heads up.

He's friendly but he's a terrible teacher. He rambles a lot in lecture about random, unrelated topics and the textbook he uses is not all that good either. The one plus is that he's a very lenient grader. But if you want to actually learn and understand experimental design, you should take it with someone else.

I enjoyed taking the course. Professor Chien gave interesting examples of chip production and shared stories about statisticians. We learned methods like two-way ANOVA, Latin square, and factorial design. I suggest attending office hours, as he excels at inspiring thoughts, which gives you opportunities to explore and deepen your understanding.

Peter is nice and he's pretty good at explaining the course topics. He gives a lot of review material for the exams, so you can do well if you try. But, the exams did take most of the class the entire period, so be aware that you'll need to work fast. He's inconsistent at answering Piazza posts, but is very willing to help if you speak to him.
