About this rating

Raw average: 3.52/5 from 25 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

I had him for English Phonology, and it was a rough time. If Phonology doesn't click with you immediately, the expectations are very difficult to pin down and the homework is very time consuming. He explains things in an engaging but ultimately difficult to understand manner. If you want straightforward instruction, this class won't be for you.

Raimy is pretty unique as a prof and very blunt. His explanations are pretty entertaining. Class isn't easy but isn't hard either. Participation is not recorded which is nice but you shouldn't miss too many lectures.

Raimy definitely does his own thing, but his explanations are good. The grading policy is weird but fair.

Eric may seem intimidating because his class demands that you put the work in to be successful (which likely is the reasons for the so-so reviews), but this actually highlights why Eric is such a good prof; Eric makes you learn. He can also be witty at times. The homework is admittedly quite much but they help greatly in preparation of the exams.

Easily the best professor I've ever had! All of the work he gives you (while a bit frequent) is directly applicable to tests and never busywork. He is very passionate about the topic and is excited to get students to care as well. He is also THE MOST accessible prof on campus and genuinely encourages any and all questions! Would recommend to all!

He's enthusiastic and brings examples into the real world when students are having a hard time understanding him. He's funny, smart, and is more than available for help in office hours. I wish he taught more classes!
