Great professor, very clear lectures. The grading is made up of mostly some essays and some exams, but the exams are very easy if you've at least glanced and understand the important portions of all readings. The lectures contain all the answers for the exams, although attending lectures is advisable since he explains more than the slides contain.Rate My Professors ↗

Professor Yu is really a great professor. He will upload every lecture on canvas. The whole course is about several interesting readings about asian american. The midterm and final are both easy and fair. I have learnt a lot from the readings assigned. Highly recommend this course and this professor!Rate My Professors ↗
You can tell prof yu really cares about what he teaches. Lectures are pretty interesting. You definitely have to read a lot for this class and sometimes the deadlines to "read" the book are a little short. Stay on top of lecture material and do most of the reading and you should be fine. Great prof though!!!Rate My Professors ↗
I went into the class knowing absolutely nothing about poetry, and by the end of the course, I learned so much and had a great time. He is very passionate and knowledgable, and just downright understanding. Definitely recommend.Rate My Professors ↗
I took his Asian Americans and Science Fiction class, and I really enjoyed the texts he chose for this class. I definitely could've gotten away with not reading. In lectures, he explains the materials and their context well. Expectations for essays were made very clear. I would definitely recommend his class!!Rate My Professors ↗
This is just your typical literature class. Once a week he gives super easy canvas quizzes worth 10% of your grade overall. Basically a free 10%. Then there's just two essays where you can pick one of 4 prompts, which are super easy if you've read at least 2 books per unit. Then theres a midterm and a final (cumulative final) but you pick prompts.Rate My Professors ↗
