About this rating

Raw average: 2.85/5 from 34 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Quality 2/5Difficulty 4/5
Participation was hard for me because of my physical condition. Plus lots of reading was required, due to the professor's requirements. Examinations have strict time limits.

Boring lectures, and attendance counts towards your grades. In-class essays written on the spot weigh heavily for your final grade.

Quality 3/5Difficulty 1/5
The class is graded on attendance + a few in-class essays, but Dr. Dharwadker prepares you very well and they are open-note.

Quality 2/5Difficulty 3/5
Dr. Dharwadker's lectures are very dull, and while she clearly cares about the subjects, she is not very responsive to opinions that differ from her own. I did not feel like I was in an environment where I could contribute my thoughts, yet she seems annoyed when people don't participate. The reading selection was good though and exams were easy.

Quality 4/5Difficulty 2/5
She is flexible and kind as long as you participate in class. Her lectures are a bit long and can be boring, but she is passionate about her work and knowledgeable.

Quality 3/5Difficulty 3/5
Thankfully, this professor knows that this class is primarily taken by people who don't care. Even still, she is not great at encouraging participation as she primarily wants to teach her interpretation of the text. Your full semester grade is based on four in-class writings plus attendance which is very stressful.
