Take 302 with him. He is INCREDIBLE. His lectures were digestible and easy to understand. He made sure to repeat difficult concepts multiple times so you weren't left with any questions. He encourages participation and was very helpful during office hours. He is one of the few profs who will actually TEACH you rather than you teach yourself.

Impressive free market economist! The lecture was very clear, he knew exactly what he wanted the students to learn, what was important, and what was worth thinking about. He would introduce practical problems. If a model was important and hard to understand, he would repeat the part at least three times, each time in more depth.

Yes!

The man is about as smart as they come. Quirky in a good way. Take him if you have a chance.

Great Professor. Very generous grader. Extremely knowledgeable. Covers a lot of ground over the semester.

Tough exams but predictable. Very accessible outside. About as smart as they come. Take a class with him if you get a chance.

If you have to take ECON 302, take it with him. He is a free market kind of guy. And this class is VERY different from AP Macro.

He is exceedingly smart. Has a dry sense of humor. He boils everything down to a few important concepts which is great for exams. He genuinely cares about students succeeding is a generous grader. Strongly recommended.

Extremely accessible professor who cares about students. I learnt a lot about macroeconomic models and how to relate them to the real world. 302 can be difficult and so I really appreciate that he tells us what models to focus on for the exams.

He always great clear lectures. He was extremely helpful outside of class and his office hours routinely went over time and he was very patient. Definitely not arrogant like the previous comments indicate. Would definitely take another course with him.

Didn't walk away feeling like I learned anything -- lots of math but typically did a poor job of explaining the concepts behind it, and class and concepts always felt pretty unstructured. I found Seshadri to be a bit arrogant and interrupted students a lot, also a bit out of touch. Not awful but not great -- homework was easy points, though.

He tries to say so much in lectures that he ends up saying nothing. Not sure what I was supposed to learn in this class but I walked away with almost no new knowledge.

You should definitely take Econ302 with Professor Seshadri! The class is difficult, but he is very fair and accessible outside of class for help. I have learned so much from this class and this professor. He doesn't require the textbook but it does help you understand the material better.

An incredibly knowledgeable professor. Truly inspiring.

Anyone who takes Econ 302 without Mr.Seshadri will be a big pity in your college career. You will learn a lot if you are well-prepared for his lecture. Very little homework with easy questions. General grader.

The man is a genius.

I found him to be one of the most helpful profs and so I really do not know what the previous person is talking about. His lectures are very clear and you will have a difficult time on the exams if you do not attend. This is not an easy course, I have heard that some of the other profs are absolute disasters and he really makes you learn.

He is about the least helpful teacher out of class. Consider yourself lucky if he responds to any of your emails. Lectures are interesting and it is necessary to attend them if you want to do well. Tests are difficult, but the curve is quite generous.

Clearly a star professor. You can tell he knows his stuff. Relates material to the real world very well using simple models. If you have the chance, take it with him. Very generous grader.

Prof. Seshadri is extremely knowledgeable and clear during lecture and keeps things interesting. Exams are extremely difficult, harder than any advanced Econ class I've taken. The curve is very generous like others have mentioned. Textbook was no help, find the head TA and attend his discussions.

Seshadri is a tough professor, especially on exams. However, his curve is very generous and the majority of students get above a BC. If you want to learn macroeconomics, I recommend you take it with Seshadri. One of the best professors I've ever had.

Great, informational class. Test are extremley tough with averages around 50% despite being extremely predictable. Would highly reccoment any class with Prof. Seshadri

Seshadri is one of the best professors in the Econ department. His explanations of all the complex macroeconomic models are always crystal clear. Extremely smart guy. Exams are tough if you don't know how to study for them. Avg on first midterm was a 55. If you're trying to get a rigorous course on Macroeconomics, he's your guy.

He is an extremely good teacher and quite possibly the best in the economics department. That said, he is a die hard free market idealoge and anti Keynesian. This is very different from many courses in other parts of campus.

great prof.

Absolutely crystal clear. Very analytical and super smart.

Very hard unless you have a strong math backround. An A on the first midterm was a 60%, second, 45% and final, 55%. If you have taken a lot of math, I am sure that he is a great teacher, very smart. if you have not, take the other, more conceptual section.

The best prof I have seen to date at UW Madison. As I graduate, I will remember the manner in which he relates simple economic theory to rather complex phenomena. He is certainly a free-market/rational theory advocate and so if you are hoping for Keynesian economics you will be sorely disappointed.

Extremely good professor and very personable. Actual cares about teaching and his students and is humble. Explains material well during lecture and office hours. Very difficult exams so make sure you go to class and pay attention.

One of the clearest profs at UW. He cares a lot about his teaching and making sure students understand the material. Hard course but you will actually learn macroeconomics.

Seshadri is a strong professor and really knows the material, but does not seem that interested when teaching lecture. Very hard exams, but the curve is pretty generous. You don't have to read the textbook.

Great professor. Very accessible during office hours. Extremely knowledgeable and in command of the material. Hard exams but generous curve.

Amazing Professor. Knows his models, and has a wealth of knowledge on the real world. And he is one of the best at connecting the simple models with real world observations. If you do Econ or Finance at UW, take 302 with him.

If you are an Econ major and hope to develop sound basic knowledge, take his intermediate course. He expect students to learn the materials inside out, and the exam would be difficult for those only knowing how to solve the questions seen before. The good thing is he is good in Math and Stat, so he explains models clearly.

If you go to his lectures and stay very focused, you will get an A. Understand long questions that he give for homework. He directly tells you what will be on the exam, so attend all his lecture!

this class is hard! average on second test was a 48 but he has a very generous curve. he'll give you long answers in lecture so make sure you go! i failed all 3 tests without the curve but somehow ended up with a B. and go to discussion and read the book! lots of work.

Ananth is a great professor. Very articulate and clear. He's very engaging and encourages students to ask questions. It is not an easy class, however. I relied heavily on the textbook, but his lectures do math that is a step beyond what is in the text. Work hard and don't be defeated if you get poor scores, curve is extremely generous.

You will do great in this class if you attend lecture, if you don't.. well don't plan on getting and A or an AB. He has really interesting and engaging lectures that deviates away from the book. If you have any questions he is super helpful in answering questions both in lecture and in office hours. Easily one of the best teachers at Madison.

One of the best professors at Madison. He is crystal clear in his lectures and relates very well to the real world. Take his class, I wish most of the other Econ prof are like him.

A pretty good professor. It is a difficult class but if you come to class and pay attention can do fine. He is engaging and really wants his students to understand the material. There aren't many homework assignments either.

Excellent professor, very engaged in his lectures and is extremely knowledgeable.

Exams are from a different book. He uses Barro's new book. TAs are sort of helpful, but expect you to know material inside-out. Exams deviate from lecture in that his lectures are more abstract than concrete (e.g. Exams are more number-based, his lectures are more model-based). It was an okay class. I don't know my grade yet.

The biggest problem I had with this course was how brutally unorganized he was and the lack of communication between him and the TAs. Exams are extremely hard, and the book/homework are of no use. If you enjoy economics, don't plan on being amused by this guy.

Never puts anything online and often deviates from the book so if you don't go to lecture you will not do well. He likes to ask questions on exams that are variations of practice, but with huge curveballs. Curve is pretty generous. Also he's absurdly Chicago school anti-keynesian and doesn't teach anything keynesian.

Sometimes, His teaching was not related to what you read. Also, he frequently makes mistakes. The exams were hard. However, you can expect generous curve. Hardest class ever. Part of the problem was changing the book. Past exam that he gave you does not help at all. I am seriously concerning about changing my major.

Average UW teacher, slightly arrogant. 2 midterms, 1 final, all of which are difficult. Book is unrelated to class material so if you skip class you won't do well. Exam study materials are unrelated to the exams so don't bother.

HW is useless. Just theory no examples in lectures. Exams are things you've never seen before

This is an awesome professor. He is funny, nice, helpful, and crystal clear. He gives you a practice exam that is 90% the same as your real exam. Tough class but the curve is helpful.

Awesome professor. Gives you old exams that have the exact same questions before every exam, highly recommend him!

Hilarious prof. Makes class really interesting. Likes to make you think and expects you to put in effort for the class. If you don't don't go to class, chances are you won't understand anything. Extremely helpful out of class and very accessible. Best econ teacher i've ever had so far.

Makes the coming to class interesting. Definitely tries to make you think. Class can be confusing sometimes, but if you talk to him after or in office hours, he makes it clear. However, Term paper reqd. for the class was vague.

I thought he was a pretty good prof. This class was way easier than Econ 301 with Rick. Also, I thought Seshadri was funny, his quirky asides were great. Also, his exams really aren't that hard if you bother to look at the old exams he gives on his website.

I thought he was real funny and entertaining, class wasn't as easy as I expected and sometimes he assumed stuff was easier then it was, but overall I thought he was a good teacher

Go to the class the day before midterms and he pretty much tells you the 3 long "essay" questions. I thought he was pretty awesome - I don't know what that other person was talking about.
