Professor Mahvi is one of the best professors in the mech E department. She is super nice, really cares about student success, and does amazing hand written lectures. Exams are a tad difficult, I'd say so be ready for those. But still would highly recommend Professor Mahvi.Rate My Professors ↗

Heat transfer is a hard class but Mahvi does an amazing job making it as accessible as possible. Exams are difficult but fairly graded. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on homework. Worst class I've ever taken. Lectures are just rapid-fire equations with zero explanation. Mandatory discussions spent debugging EES while learning nothing. Work graded like trash, points lost for stuff we were never even taught. Missing equations, unclear expectations—just a complete disaster. Total waste of time and a useless degree requirement.
Professor Mahvi is one of the best professors in the department. Her explanations of heat transfer was very clear and well documented. Her handwritten lecture notes were easy to follow, and she was always willing to stop and answer questions. Exams, although difficult covered content that was in-line with class. She's an alright teacher but this is a tough class and it could still use some improvements. Lecture examples often aren't great preparation for assignments, and homework has a lot of specific requirements for showing work. Some homework is more about debugging EES than actual concepts.
