Provide an overview of diversity, including a definition of diversity and diversity management, and discuss the various reasons for the emphasis on diversity.
Demonstrate knowledge of prevalent attitudes regarding equity, fairness, and diversity.
Demonstrate knowledge about varying beliefs about health, disease and treatment that influence health care practice in oral presentations and written communication using outlining, drafting and revision.
Address issues of racism, bias, and prejudice and explain how these issues affect the experience of individuals and groups.
Demonstrate culturally sensitive verbal and non-verbal communication skills with respect to age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, nationality and religion.
Critically evaluate the literature on physical activity and health topics using relevant, reliable, and high-quality research sources.
Demonstrate an understanding of how race, ethnicity, gender, social class, sexuality, and diverse abilities (e.g. physical, cognitive) currently impact opportunities and experiences in physical activities and sports.
Demonstrate an understanding of teaching, coaching, and communication techniques that may enhance your ability to work with diverse populations in order to promote healthy lifestyles.
Demonstrate the ability to make recommendations regarding the design, implementation, and evaluation of curricular and instructional practices that fully includes learners’ diverse needs.
Demonstrate knowledge of models and theories impacting on equity, fairness, or diversity.
Demonstrate the ability to utilize the acquired knowledge in group discussions pertaining to issues related to coaching diverse athletes and promoting healthy behavior among diverse groups.
Recognize changing demographics and health disparities in the United States and discuss strategies to reduce the disparities and improve quality of health care.

Issues related to promoting equal learning opportunities in the classroom and other community settings, including effective approaches to encouraging collaboration among colleagues, staff, parents, and students who are culturally, ethnically and socio-economically diverse are examined. In addition, effective instructional and coaching methods for an inclusive sport environment, athletic programs, and health professions as they relate to diverse individuals are addressed. Theoretical and practical paradigm of cultural differences are introduced. The focus is on diversity issues as they relate to race, ethnicity, gender, social class, sexuality, and racial considerations, development and ability differences, variations in learning styles and a variety of physical, mental, and emotional disabilities.
