I took his online 367 class. This was honestly better than any other online class I've taken. It was easy to know what to do & when. His expectations on assignments were clear, his lectures were wonderfully concise & the work load was incredibly fair. The material was hard but interesting, and he was more than willing to offer help whenever needed.
I took his online 367 class. He posts tons of lecture videos that you are expected to watch and then somehow 20-30% of the questions on the midterm and final aren't covered anywhere. The only way to ask questions is through the discussion board where he is not clear. No extra credit available at all and you're just a number to him. get ready
Material is not terribly hard but you might have to do a lot of the learning on your own. Troy can make you feel dumb if you ask a question. The TA will probably be the best option if you have questions.
Let me preface this by saying that I am not a STEM major, so I found this class to be difficult. Prof. Runge provides a ton of lecture videos and practice calculations to make sure you KNOW the material. However, some of the quiz/exam questions are not necessarily covered (or covered very briefly) so you really have to know your stuff to do well.
A lot of material between presented, between lectures and textbook reading. Exams and assignments clearly presented, but a lot of studying needed to do well on exams. Ongoing systems modeling assignment is a BEAST. Plan on spending a lot of time on each part of this assignment to do well. Leaned a LOT, but definitely makes you work for it.
Tests are extremely difficult and usually seem to be outside the scope of the material covered. Grading guidelines for the final project are nonexistent, and even by following the example given, my friends and I all received extremely low grades, with no explanation. I would not recommend Troy or this class to anyone.
