About this rating

Raw average: 4.09/5 from 11 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Dr. Wang took time after each of the first 2 exams to say we were underperforming, not studying enough, and not asking good enough questions. To be fair, grades were raised by replacing exam 2s grade with a copy of exam 3s grade if it was higher. Lectures were good & well structured, but I felt she was very condescending the whole semester.

Every lecture is packed to the brim with niche things you won't ever expect to be on the midterms/final but always make their way onto them.Requires extensive out of lecture/discussion work to succeed. She also has this incredible ability to schedule midterms after big weekends/breaks (Halloween and Thanksgiving).Kind of snippy when you askquestions

She's fine. If you genuinely love organic chemistry this is for you. No problem sets, gave one practice exam for the final, and does not attempt to make the class interesting at all. If you are into hearing a monotone lecture about a single mechanism with 7000 steps and then being given a question worth half your grade on it then take this class.

Amazing professor teaching a very difficult class.

Great lecturer, her teaching style works well for the class, and lectures are recorded, but she can be a bit snarky when answering questions. Beware that she smacks her lips A TON which made watching any of her video resources painful. Exams r rly tough but fair if you devote your life to studying material, especially in second half of the class.

Quality 4/5Difficulty 2/5
Dr. Wang is very knowledgeable in all subjects covered in the class but can move through them at a quick pace. The papers are graded fairly and averages were always around 90%. The class is easy to understand if you have a strong background in cell biology or biochemistry. You also develop a very strong ability to read and understand primary lit.
