About this rating

Raw average: 3.90/5 from 50 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Very funny and clearly passionate, but not a great lecturer. The lectures had nothing to do with the assignments for the class, so it felt kind of unnecessary

Probably one of the worst courses you can take in UW Madison for credits. The projects are time consuming and strictly graded. The grading rubrics are unclear and feedbacks are slow. The lectures are completely unrelated to the assignments but he still takes attendance. What's even worse is that my TA made it even tougher. DO NOT TAKE FOLKLORE 100

The instructors for this class were not on the same page. We were told conflicting information by different people. Also, it is the last week of school and we still have 60% of our points left to be graded because grading takes forever.

He seems like a nice guy but the class is structured in a way that makes no sense. There are a total of 100 points in the grade book, which means you can only lose 7 points the entire semester to still receive an A. In addition, grading is really harsh. In all I would definitely not recommend taking this course with Thomas Dubois.

Nice guy, but this class is very disorganized, the professor will say one thing, and the TA's something else. Very hard to get an A for a 100-level class. Assignments are also very time-consuming, and again, the grading is tough. If you're taking this class for credit, please do yourself a favor and sign up for something else.

Sort of a self important 100 level class, each point is one percent of your grade, making it very difficult to get a good grade. Not very organized canvas page or lectures. Difficult to figure out what material is actually important.
