Prof. Emirbayer was boring, but this is also a classical sociological theory class so I'm not sure what else people were expecting. Definitely knew his stuff, wasn't the most engaging lecturer but I did learn things, grade is just attendance and weekly reading quizzes. Lectures were semi-discussion based which helped me stay awake.Rate My Professors ↗

Emirbayer was more a scholar than a professor. Lectures were very dry, tests were nit-picky, and it seemed as though he'd rather enjoy doing research than teaching. Textbook was alright as it presented material talked about in class; though at times, some of the arguments presented were a bit of a stretch.Rate My Professors ↗

Very awful professor, one of the worst class I have taken in Madison. This class for students who second language is English is very unkind. You can hardly catch the step of class even though you work very hard. He's lecture is also boring, basically reading book and no other interesting staff. Very good professor. As far as classic sociology goes, he knows his stuff and does a really good job with the class. The class is structured in a very unusual way, but I love it, and I think most people would. He's the best professor from whom to take Soc 475 in my opinion.Rate My Professors ↗
