Prof Craven's course offering is like CMU's 10-601, which is accommodating of students who lack a strong math background, but can pick up stuff along the way. The course is mostly theoretical, although programming assignments cover around 60% of the grade. The course content is excellent. The course slides make tough concepts easy to understand.
