Korinna isolated the female students in class, and flanagan teased and harassed the female students in public. It was extremely sinful. Choose the courses of these two harassing partners carefully.

When you helped Flanagan harass female students, weren't you very bold? Why are you a turtle now?

Never see the sun

Crawling in the gutter

Dark Heart

Leveraging the student's need for a recommendation letter to exert undue pressure, intimidate, and undermine the student.

If you take notes on the reading, the videos, and lectures, you'll be fine. However, if you do not have a lot of time to dedicate to this course, or are looking for an easy pre-requisite, I do not recommend taking Professor Hansen. Great professor, but requires a lot of time and effort that exceeds the usual for a Gen-Ed course.

Take a different econ professor. I had to rely on youtube videos and other resources

The course content isn't hard. Korinna isn't a great of a professor, she takes too long explaining concepts and went WAY into depth into superficial concepts. I don't really like how she trys to explain derivatives and how they're the holy grail of economics (I'm sure it is, but there's no need to spend 20 minutes for each graph on how its derived)

class averaged 56 on the last midterm

The class was way too hard for an Econ 101 class and I would only take it if you like doing bad on exams and receiving awful grades.

Way too difficult for a 100 level class. She is giving questions the TAs (who are PHd students) do not know how to do

She seems like a sweet lady, but her work is very hard. She's known to be the hardest Econ professor… don't take

Starting off I think that Professor Hansen cares about the class I just think she is not a very good professor. She gets very upset when people talk while she is teaching. Her way of teaching is heavily based off of memorization. The information that I have learned in this class was quickly forgotten. She teaches you what it is not how to use it.

She is hard to understand and very sensitive when students were speaking in lecture. She needs to do some practice problems during class because it is very hard to stay engaged.

She was very difficult to understand her in lecture. Lectures were required, but they didn't help much learning wise. The homework and online practice problems help you learn way more than discussion or lecture.

she is amazing highly suggest you take her, expect a lot of work, go to class, and study a lot. office hours are very accessible and she is awesome

Professor Hansen is extremely respectable and genuinely one of the smartest people I've ever met. Her style of instruction is a bit old fashioned, but she knows what she's talking about. If you ask for feedback, she's detailed and thorough. She really cares about making sure students succeed, and she will grade fairly based on your effort.

Hansen is super passionate about econ, and it shows during lectures. The hardest part about the class is the pace, but lectures never feel rushed (if anything, they feel slow). Weekly quizzes are pretty easy, exams are more challenging but fair. Her discussions are useful as they consist entirely of exam-style questions, and are great for prep.

Great content presentation! P.Hansen posts lecture notes, communicates deadlines really well, sends regular informative emails. The class is hard and there's a lot of reading and self-teaching you'll have to do, but she helps you every step of the way. Lectures & discussions were valuable and my favorite time in class this semester.

Professor Hansen values perfection and praises "straight A" students. While her lectures are clear, grading lacks transparency, and tests require heavy memorization. She's less supportive if you struggle, so self-learning is essential. Her classes are test-focused, and poor performance may label you as lower status, making success challenging.

Professor Hansen is the best professor I encountered at UW-Madison—smart, dedicated, and patient. Econ 548 is challenging, with strict grading and memorization-heavy exams, so regular attendance and preparation are crucial. Engaging with her will give you a deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare system.

Professor Hansen's ECON101 class is challenging but rewarding. While the exams emphasize memorization, the lectures are informative. Using resources like unstuck study, ChatGPT, and the textbook can help manage the workload. Overall, a worthwhile class for dedicated students.

Dr. Hansen is very passionate about the subject of Health Economics, and is also very caring and supportive of her students. She is a bit harsh in her criticism during group projects, but provides very valuable input. That said, the exams (midterm and final) were almost impossible to do well on, and the class was overall quite stressful for me.

professor hansen is one of the hardest professors i have ever had. while lectures are understandable and informational, tests rely heavily on memorization and not actual skill. do not take this class unless you want to fail

She is a great professor and genuinely cares for her students. There is a group project in which she holds your hand through it, albeit sort of difficult. The class covers an insane amount of material, and the final is cumulative, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to study. A is very doable.

Korinna was the best professor, not only in terms of her personality but also in the way she went about teaching. 111 was hard, and she knew it, and she was unforgiving with grading. However, she made herself incredibly available through office hours or email if you had questions and was always helpful.

I had Korinna for Econ 111 and she was great! She does a really good job of explaining concepts during lectures, and the discussions, which are led by her, are really good and similar to questions on midterms. If you take this class, make sure to look at her notes for each topic because many times questions are pulled from those.

This class is very difficult, but she makes that very clear. You will learn a LOT and she is very educated in her field. You will do a large group project, but she offers lots of help throughout and if you take her advice you will do well. She can often lack empathy, but she means well and just wants you to learn. Don't take for an easy A.

too fast, too much in lecture, especially for a 101 class. course was incredibly difficult and had to self teach everything before finals. ableist and elitist. Didn't understand the opportunity cost of college - Immigrated - and told my friend that she couldn't pass the class because she had other responsibilities unapproachable, condescending.

Professor Hansen is an awesome professor and an overall great person! She is extremely knowledgeable and makes the material interesting. 548 was a pretty heavy workload class, and there is a final project that is group-based. That being said, most (if not all) of the people who take this class aren't slackers so the group work was fine.

She was not really my favorite person and not the most encouraging but she is really good at what she does and gives multiple resources to help you do well in the class. Just don't slack and actually watch the lecture videos and go to lecture and read the book. I know it is a lot of work and it feels like a waste of time but it pays off in the end

she is a very kind woman and you can tell she is passionate about the content and teaching. That being said, it is kind of difficult to do well in this class unless you work very hard to get a firm grasp of the material. Going to lectures is probably the best way to do this (i did not and regretted it) and exams are worth the majority of your grade

I don't think prof. Hansen understands how difficult it is to do well in this class. You have to have an amazing grip on the content, perfect lecture attendance, and ability to apply. Keeping up in this class is difficult and the resources provided are a great thought, but so overwhelming.

She's a good professor, but you can't get by without going to class. It's extremely test heavy (two midterms, 20% each and the final is worth 30%). I did not go to class much and am doing horribly despite trying to keep up with videos/quizzes/hw. Try for another prof if you want an easy class.

She cares so much about her students and is just a really nice lady. If your an econ major I highly recommend taking this class. It's super interesting but can be challenging at times. Prof Hansen does a great job at explaining material!!

Professor Hansen truly does care about her students but I do not feel she has a grip on the effort it takes to pass her class and do everything else that a college student is required to do. I did all of the review material once or twice (v time consuming) and that wasn't enough. The exams are nothing like other evaluation methods.

SHE'S THE GOAT! She is very concerned about students well beings, and I would 100% recommend her. You have to put in work for her class, but she's a great teacher and provides you complete notes for the class.

Hansen is a great professor who cares a lot about her students and makes herself highly accessible for questions and feedback. The content is difficult and the questions on exams really test understanding, not just knowledge or memorization. Lectures are not mandatory but if you don't attend them you likely will not perform well on exams.

Professor Hansen is hands down my favorite professor I have had in the Economics Department. Lectures were very educational and inspirational. She provides excellent individual feedback for students in a very timely manner. Korinna also makes herself very accessible outside of class so that students can feel confident with the course material.

Hansen is a tough, but practiced professor who ensures that students have all the tools they need to do well in micro-econ. Practice oriented class - like a math course, but Hansen makes sure to slow down and solve problems in lecture itself, which helps tremendously with exams and quizzes. She uploads lots of practice material on canvas.

Prof. Hansen is a great lecturer and such a sweet person! She genuinely cares about her students and likes it when you ask questions and go to office hours. Very accessible outside of class and responses to emails quickly. The class was hard but was expected due to it being accelerated. Definitely read the textbook and lecture notes before class.

Dr. Hansen is an enthusiastic professor who provides really helpful class notes. She is not an easy grader but there is a generous curve on exams at least for 111.

Lectures somewhat hard to understand but not as bad as other classes I've had. I attended most lectures and learned a good amount from them. 2 quizzes per week in discussion (1 individual,1 group) which can boost your grade. My TA was great and really helped me understand. Exams are multiple choice and had a huge curve which saved my grade.

She has been teaching for like 20+ years, full-time. Yet, she fully relies on part-time TAs (PhD students) to create exams. She does not proofread the exam questions carefully, so as a result, the exams are scattered with mistakes. Overall, she is NOT a bad person. But she definitely does not put enough time and effort into teaching.

Praying the curve saves me. That is all I have to say

THIS CLASS SUCKS!!!! She shows random graphs all lecture and then the test questions are so much harder than anything she went over in class. She gives you a lot of review material and an answer key but NO annotated keys so if you don't know a question then you are OVER. Her tests are way harder than any other econ class- DONT TAKE HER CLASS EVER!!

Unorganised, messy lectures are just the tip of the iceberg. Her lectures are made worse by her horrible, annoying voice and her constant screech of "MAKE THE MATERIAL YOURS" into her mic. Exams are largely based on equations rather than the graphs we go over in lecture. Pray your TA is class or that you took AP Econ otherwise you are done for.

She doesn't frame any of the material, just kind of rambles on with random equations and graphs, hard to really understand a full concept. Exams were difficult, but had a nice curve. Meritocracy ideals, made me hesitant to ask for help. Weekly quiz in discussion sections were not that hard but weekly quizzes just suck in general.

It's so stupidly hard for no reason and her exams are almost impossible if you don't put in SOO much extra work. For a 101 class this is exhausting and way too much work. She doesn't explain anything if you ask she just says you should understand. The first midterm avg. was 52% if that doesn't tell you enough. Would never recommend.

Im not a big math person and her lecture style did not help. Shes very nice but unless you are great at math I wouldnt recommend. Very hard exams

I liked her lectures and I think that she explained things well. The tests were hard and often had questions that were very difficult to derive from the material we were given in class, but the curve was always nice. She provides a lot of review material, and if you do a lot of practice problems, you can end with a good grade.

I rarely went to lecture and got a decent grade. She's a nice lady but teaching style isn't the best. Has a nice curve though.

Her style of teaching is essentially here is a brief explanation with a graph, and then she just expects you to understand everything. Her voice is annoying and I cannot stand lecture. Only redeeming part of her class is that there is a curve.

Weekly quizzes (individual and then with a group) she does drop lowest 3 of both, can't make up if you miss one. Lectures are long and very material heavy with lots of notes that need to be taken. Also has all her notes and old videos on canvas. Do bad once on a midterm and your grade with stay low. Would not recommend unless your prepared to work.

This class was hard but I mean, it is a 4 credit class and counts for Quantitative B. I studied hard and I got a good grade. As long as you attend the lectures and do the practice problems, you'll be good. She also posts her old lectures online if you need to go back.

Weekly in-person quizzes so attendance is mandatory. She drops your 3 lowest--but any you miss count for the ones that get dropped. Really tough midterms and fast-paced lectures. She doesn't care about the success of individual students and if you don't do well on the first midterm, your grade will stay down and she won't work to help you improve.

Korinna is a sweet woman with a cute accent. Unfortunately those are her only redeeming qualities. Her class is unnecessarily hard for an introductory econ. For what she teaches in class, its so difficult to apply it to the tests. She just expects you to get it. Most everyone does so bad on her tests and she gives weekly quizzes, too.

I asked her a question during my midterm because I was confused and she just responded with "it's clear". She did not even try to understand what I was confused with. It was a question on the marginal rate of substitution. I was confused because it didn't specify which good was being substituted for the other. Her lectures suck. She is difficult.

She is a stern lady and comes off as scary, but the class is not bad at all. the whole grade is basically the mid terms and the final. So far I have only taken two mid terms and they were both very easy, I scored high 90's. I go to probably half of the lectures. She just teaches very slow, be prepared to hear the same stuff over and over.

Awful. Exams are hard and end of the semester grading scale is not yet informed to you until later. I did all the extra work and still am ending with a C

Unreasonably difficult

Professor Hansen was very communicative for this being an asynchronous course. Homework was reasonable and tests had a generous curve. The only complaint is weekly quizzes. This is a difficult course but not impossible if you read the textbook and watch lectures. I would recommend her.

The class is aggravating annoying with how the discussion sessions after the quizzes. Further, these quizzes were nothing like the midterms and the professor failed to address the low average test scores . Lectures are hours long and are of her writing on a piece of paper. I DO NOT RECCOMEND AT ALL

She seems like a sweet lady, but this class was awful. You end up teaching yourself. No time to finish exams or quizzes. Would never take it again, or take a different class with her. She did not care about her student's success in the class.

This class is terrible.

She truly wants every kid to do well. She doesn't assign a lot of homeowork, but she expects you to do your own practice problems until you have it figured out. The lectures were a little dry and long, but I would guess that is only the case because it was online for me.

Hansen would probably been a better prof granted this class were in person, still the lectures felt long and disorganized. I took Ap Micro in high school and my teacher was more clear and concise and I wish that was applied here. Theres a few main midterms which forms your grade. She was very strict and was never understanding of our situations.

Professor Hansen is very sweet and passionate about what she's teaching, but the material was incredibly hard. She moved very fast pace and expected students to grasp the difficult concepts right away. I took this online and lectures were an hour and a half twice per week. Very math heavy. Lots of work and studying. Midterms and final very hard.

You can tell that Professor Hansen is really passionate about Economics, however this intro level Econ class was much more difficult than it should have been. While the weekly quizzes and HW were not difficult, I didn't feel as though the lectures prepared me for the midterms and exams. The pace for the amount of content in the class is crazy.

Professor Hansen is the sweetest! Material was difficult as someone who has never taken econ before but she provides the help and materials to succeed, you just have to put in the work. Generous curve

Every single lecture was qualitative while the exams and quizzes were quantitative. It was incredibly difficult to grasp the materials at the pace of this class. She is a professor that is such a master of Economics that she has poor teaching skills. I would not recommend.

Hansen expects everyone to know the material before watching the lecture even though I have never even seen the material before. Lots of resources available to study. Makes the midterms harder than they should be. Quizzes and HW are easy.

She expects students to know this material, even though it's an intro level class and some have never seen the material before. She jumps from thing to thing without explaining often and it is so confusing.

Best professor I've had so far. Her attitude was absolutely unmatched. She cared about the content, her students, and herself. The content of the class was understandable with not too much reading or homework. Plenty of resources if you're struggling, but you likely won't. Amazing class.

The class is very calculation heavy but Korinna does a great job organizing lectures and explaining everything. She has super detailed notes for every chapter on canvas and lectures are easy to follow so textbook isn't necessary. Three exams, problem sets have unlimited attempts and a weekly quiz. She is very sweet and caring - loved my time here!

Korinna is an intense professor at times, but it's because she is so passionate about the material. She genuinely wants you to succeed, and I respect the heck outta that

Her class is more math based than other Econ classes. If you do the entire review packet you will be fine. She is a good lecturer and the class is not too bad as long as you take good notes and have people to study with.

Professor Hansen was a great teacher for Econ 101. She made sure everyone knew the topic very clearly and provided students with numerous practice problems prior to the exams. Super important to go to lecture as the textbook cant replace it.

Solid teacher for Econ101. She makes sure the class understands all the points. The homework doesn't really connect to the course, but it wasn't terribly difficult. She's very math-oriented, and sometimes she does it in a really weird, inefficient way. Overall, a decent teacher and a pretty easy class.

Very engaging lectures and uses very interesting examples to understand the material. Definitely look forward to taking a class with her again.

+ Energetic lecturer!! + Good graphs and information during class. Lecture is worthwhile although optional. + Great handouts that were helpful for exams. + Fair exams. - Discussion quizzes add an unnecessary degree to stress to the class. - Discussion section was not helpful in my experience. - Online homework is often frustrating to do.

Honestly, this was the hardest class I've ever taken. The curve in the class is absolutely insane. I failed each exam and still got a BC in the class, though I have no idea how. I should mention, though, that this is departmental and not on the prof. Prof. Hansen is very caring, very willing to work with you. She cares and it shows.

Loves to call people out in lecture for talking, using their phone, or leaving early.

You do not want to miss lectures!! They are super math heavy and will be hard to understand on your own if you miss. Hansen provides lots of practice, but it is hard to find peer help in the class. The midterms were easier than the final;the final was extremely hard fall 2019 (class av: 58%). You will learn so much in this class but it is very hard

Professor Hansen is very passionate about economics but lectures are very boring if you are not interested in economics. Lectures are very math heavy and there are a ton of graphs that you will need to memorize. If you skip lecture you won't do well as she covers a lot of material that is not in the textbook that will also show up on tests

Just come to lectures and study the past year paper. Guaranteed A. That's if your good with Math

Hansen is a super nice professor. She can sometimes explain things poorly, but overall is decent.

Korinna shows that she cares about her students' success. She tries her best to do what she can for people and always makes time for students outside of class. The lectures were average but necessary in order to do well in the class. Make sure you go to discussion because there are quizzes at the end of every week that can easily boost your grade.

Professor Hansen did an excellent job at teaching. Go to her lectures and you won't need to even look at the textbook on canvas. She gave lots of practice problems so studying for the exams wasn't that tough. She's a kind, high energy person who really does care about her students.

Hansen absolutely hates it when people talk in her class. She is an incredible teacher and is very passionate about Econ. She does give out weekly quizzes, though, so you really have to keep up with the material. The tests are also unnecessarily hard but she does give a practice exam from the year before, which I found was the best to study off of.

I hate math but I ended up taking this class which was a terrible decision on my part. She's definitively passionate about econ but I honestly just found the whole thing super uninteresting. Someone who is interested in the subject matter will probably get a lot out of her classes.

Take her Econ 301 if you can. Really clear criteria and the lectures were extremely helpful. Quizzes during discussions.

In Econ101 there were two quizzes every week in discussion, counting for 20 percent of your grade, and they take up half of the discussion, so TAs don't have enough time to explain important concepts. If you miss discussion you get a zero. The test and quiz questions are designed to trick you, and aren't anything like the practice tests available.

Had to attend discussion because she would give quizzes every week. Really need to study for her exams. She is very math oriented which is different from taking this class with other professors. She is very passionate about econ so she takes the time in class to explain and draw all of the graphs.

Tough class lots of studying and koruna does not help out she goes way too fast and her exams are extremely difficult.

Extremely interesting class and subject, but Hansen is very intense. You'll lean a lot, but she is a tough grader . It's not possible to skip class or BS assignments without getting a poor grade. Get ready to memorize dozens of academic papers and graphs because her exams require you to know the material with absolute precision!

Prof. Hansen is very smart and extremely excited to teach econ. One gripe is the speed in which she goes through lectures due to putting class notes online beforehand, thinking students actually print them off (they don't). Definitely a tier below Johnson but not a bad professor by any means. Rather difficult tests. Final avg was 64%

Professor Hansen is one of the best economics teachers I have ever had. If you read before class, you will be able to easily keep up with what's going on. Tests can be difficult, but as long as you do all of the practice problems she gives you (and maybe supplement with a few explanatory videos), you can get at least a B on the exams.

One of my favorite professors for this semester!
