Super chill. If you do the readings you'll probably be good. Attendance quizzes every class, but they're easy, 3 questions, and multiple choice. She's clearly very passionate about Russian/Soviet history and had a lot of insights that I thought were really cool. The class was low-stress and she is very flexible if you need anything.Rate My Professors ↗

I was disappointed in the content, the readings aim to form a negative aspect of Russian culture. In addition, this class may pose a challenge for students who are not familiar with the language (names, patronymics, etc). You have 3 papers, 3 exams, and other assignments. Easy class for a Comm-B, but you need to read. Lectures are somewhat useless.Rate My Professors ↗
I loved Dr. Shevelenko! This is the perfect literature class, IMHO. Quizzes are simple to comprehend and if you did the reading you will get +100 on every one. Perfect study guides for exams---I know exactly what she's looking for. Lectures are super fun! If you did the readings it's super engaging and Dr. Shevelenko always makes me chuckle.Rate My Professors ↗
Her class wasn't hard, it was just pretty mundane. Easy 3 question T/F quizzes every class and then 3 essays, and 3 exams. The expectations for essays wasn't very specific, so it was hard to know what you were worked and what didn't, but she wasn't incredibly picky. LOTS of reading with really quick turnarounds thoughRate My Professors ↗
Really hard to choose tags. Gives good feedback? Hardly any. Respected? Sure, for her books, but a terrible lecturer (lectures are useless, you do not even have to read anything, waste of time). Discussions in the classroom? Never heard. Inspirational - are you kidding? Soooo boring... Avoid at all cost!Rate My Professors ↗
Meh. Really knowledgeable and good person but drones on and on the whole time, hard to stay focused on what she's saying. Easy to fall asleep, lectures are useless. Fair amount of reading but plot summaries for them are online. A few papers and tests too. Class is MWF, quizzes W but it's safe to skip M and F. Fine but forgettableRate My Professors ↗
