ION MEYN

A very very passionate professor with a lot of hands on experience with the topics he is dealing with. I would say its a great class regardless of your views on race in America with how much you end up learning. Test can be a little difficult but there is a kind curve for the class so overall not too bad.

I was initially daunted and even afraid of Professor Meyn, since he's very aggressive and emotional in his lectures. I later came to really appreciate his class and lecturing style, and he's genuinely very nice outside of lecture. The exams are graded on a very harsh curve, though, so be careful and FOLLOW GUIDELINES.

Ion is an incredible person/professor. He is extremely passionate about legal injustice, constantly curses, and brings a perspective of the criminal justice system that you've probably never encountered. The class is graded on 3 exams, all of which are quite challenging. My grade isn't great, but this is the most impactful class I've ever taken.

Professor Meyn clearly puts a lot of thought into how he teaches his classes. He doesn't just talk about how the law works in theory, but how it works in the real world. You might have to work harder to teach yourself some of the fundamentals outside of class, but it's honestly worth it to learn the law in a hands-on way. Plus, no cold calls...

The lectures feel like you are being scolded/lectured by a teacher for doing something wrong. Frequently goes on side tangents to rant. Class isn't a comfortable environment for student dialogue to ask questions or make comments. Swears frequently in lecture. Pleasant to speak with outside of class. Sets you up for exam success.

The exams were pretty easy despite me getting a B+. I forgot how I didn't get an A.
