About this rating

Raw average: 4.47/5 from 17 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Super great professor, was flexible when I had some life conflicts in her class, gave me extra time. Suuuuuper knowledgable about the class content, and very engaging. I considered dropping the class, but I found myself extremely interested in the material once it began, and though it was hard, it was fun and cool to learn from her.

Prof. Bearden is AWESOME!! Super helpful, and very engaging. The subject matter of her courses can feel intimidating, but she wants to work with you. If you have questions, never be afraid to ask her, she is on your side. If you can, do the reading for her class: it's only fun when people participate, and they drag when they don't.

Quality 3/5Difficulty 4/5
She's smart, nice, and entertaining. She goes through the information quickly in the lectures, so you must pay close attention and not miss class. The problem I had was that she's a tough grader but doesn't offer a lot of feedback. If you put the effort in, you'll probably get the grade you want.

Quality 1/5Difficulty 5/5
I took Bearden's English 543 class, and while the content was engaging, I didn't like her teaching. She was a harsh grader without providing much feedback at all, and she shut down students who participated in class if they gave an answer she didn't like. As a result, I felt discouraged from participating and didn't look forward to her class.

Professor Bearden was a really engaging lecturer, and made her content extremely accessible. The papers were somewhat difficult, but if you have paid attention to lectures and read the texts you will be fine. I wish I could have had her as a professor in person.

Professor Bearden is awesome. She is very caring, understanding and always willing to help. I appreciated the effort she put into the class. I can tell she is passionate about what she is talking about and I truly enjoyed and learned something from every lecture. She also gives great paper feedback so that you can improve next time. Great class!
