I agree with the other reviews, Edmonds is not able to disagree without mocking students and does create a somewhat hostile class environment. This makes it rough to make any dissenting argument unless you have thick skinRate My Professors ↗

Good books, decent lectures, very engaging discussions and films. Participation is a must!!! I learned a lot and my writing improved. Edmonds gives good feedback and context and she's funny. Fairly easy A.Rate My Professors ↗

Rather than fostering open discussions, Dr. Edmonds shut down and openly mocked students ideas with which she didn't agree. The stress caused by this class was not worth anything I may have otherwise taken away from it. Her feedback on essays was inconsistent and unclear, even when I went to office hours.Rate My Professors ↗

Dr. Edmonds was great. A bit intimidating at the beginning of the semester. She'll challenge you to develop and polish your arguments, but her grading could be much stricter and still fair. You do have to read and some of it is challenging but she'll help you digest it. Available for office hours. She's also hilarious and immensely knowledgeable.Rate My Professors ↗

I LOVE LITERATURE AND THIS CLASS IS HELL.She claims that the class reflects the students participation but we participated a lot and we still got scolded daily. Any opinion or thought you share she will invalidate by mocking you. She claims that this is just what college is-false-my other professors are so much better. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS PLZ!!!Rate My Professors ↗

Dr. Edmonds is very knowledgable about the content. She goes over exactly what happens in the chapters you were supposed to read. She gets frustrated when nobody participates and makes comments to the TA frequently to talk to us about that. She is a tough grader, especially when she knew our class was mostly all taking it for the ethnicity credit.Rate My Professors ↗
