About this rating

Raw average: 2.59/5 from 70 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Prof. Marquez is an old school guy, doesn't use canvas or slides, and expects all tech be put away once class starts. But he does it with a purpose. Given the smaller lecture size, 40ish, he encourages participation and working together. He's honestly really nice, he just wants you to try and make friends with people in the class. Beware of vocab!

hes obviously very knowledgeable so sometimes he forgets to explain certain things, just ask him and he will explain. GO TO LECTURE, without lecture there is no way to excel at tests. he goes on personal tangents sometimes which can be entertaining but they are very random and often unrelated

This professor greatly cares about what he is teaching but often lectures on material that is not at all relevant to the exam. Attendance is mandatory (they don't manually take attendance however), where if you skip a lecture, you will be screwed for the exam. For the exams, especially vocab exams, he is EXTREMELY picky in what he is looking for.

Lectures are extremely boring, and you must be present for all of them.

I thought this would be an interesting liberal studies credit, I was wrong. His lectures are boring, slow, and almost always completely unrelated tangents. Lots of reading. Tests are just graded on how well your opinion matches theirs. If you get sick, you are basically screwed, and he will not help you make up work. Do not take.
