What you’ll be able to do

  • Identify the unique roles of clinicians and patients in the collection of practice-based information for the purpose of patient-centered care and shared decision-making.

  • Develop appropriate clinical questions that can be best addressed at the point of care using PICO (Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) style questions.

  • Assess an athletic training clinical environment for the purpose of developing data collection strategies during normal point-of-care encounters to improve best practices.

  • Assess clinical practices that require unlearning strategies in the interest of up-to-date patient-centered care.

  • Understand how participation in practice-based research networks can advance athletic training research and patient care efforts.

  • Appraise point-of-care technology (e.g., electronic medical records) to enhance the collection of practice-based data.
