What you’ll be able to do

  • Function in Japanese in some familiar social situations (e.g., making recommendations, conducting an interview, leading a discussion, describing a book/movie, narrating one's experience, etc.).

  • Connect sentences to provide information on some familiar and abstract topics (e.g., cultural differences, social issues, gender issues, etc.) and to describe events and say their opinions.

  • Summarize the main idea and some details in talk and authentic texts that contain mostly familiar vocabulary.

  • Analyze and use various styles such as spoken vs. written styles, formal vs. casual styles, etc.

  • Analyze some cultural similarities and differences between the target and their own, as well as the diversity within each culture.
