  • Articulate some of the effects the past has had on present day circumstances, perceptions of, and disparities facing Native American women.

  • Recognize cultural assumptions, and biases, as they relate to conceptions of gender and lived experience under colonialism

  • Examine cultural variance in gender and gender roles and Indigenous women's place within their tribal nations, urban communities, and American society.

  • Assess contemporary issues with consideration for the cultural perspectives and worldviews of Indigenous peoples in what is now the United States.

  • Demonstrate understanding of key topics in the field of Indigenous women's and gender studies through engagement with field-based literature.
