In general, Yiyin taught well, and she provided many ways to boost one's grade in case one did poorly. I didn't gain too much from the lectures since they were hard to understand, but if I watched the recording, I would get it second try. Not a perfect lecturer by any means but I think some of the comments here are a bit too harsh. Lectures are structured well and explanations are complete, and will always stop if students have questions. CS354- This professor is a must avoid. It is tough to understand online recordings, and teaching skills are not the best. I can't say that the other professor offered is better but avoid her. There have been multiple times during lectures when she doesn't know what she's talking about and has to correct herself multiple times every lecture.Rate My Professors ↗
I'm not a perfect student by any means but I at least try to rewatch recorded lectures to study and learn, which is near impossible with this professor. I think that CS 354 is a class that is complicated enough that it should be taught by someone who can thoroughly explain concepts without following each sentence with "I hope that makes sense".Rate My Professors ↗
Very accessible outside of class and accommodating if you have an actual conflict. However, the lecture quality is not good because she tends to just restate what she is coding and doesn't actually explain why. Accent makes her hard to understand as well. For those who took the CS300-400 route, I would recommend NOT to bypass CS220.Rate My Professors ↗
