Xiaoqin stands out as one of the best instructors I have had at this university. Unlike many other mathematics instructors, Xiaoqin tries to help you understand the mathematical concepts on an intuitive level before delving deep into the nitty gritty details. While lectures were nicely organized, the exams were much harder than examples given in lecture or discussion. You need to do the hw & go to discussion to understand but even though I thought I had a good understanding of the material the exams were very difficult. He's really a nice guy. He wants the class to get good grades. 431 with Guo is no harder than any calc class here. Would definitely recommend him. He prepared me for math 632 very well. He follows the textbook closely, which is really nice because you can use it to help clarify everything that is discussed in class.Rate My Professors ↗
He was a nice guy that obviously cared a lot about math, but he wasn't the best at teaching it. I would try to pay attention in lecture, but he would often skip around and make it more confusing. Alright contrary to what most of these reviews say how the professor is a nice guy and all. I'm going to give you a review from someone who isn't good at math and who doesn't care about how nice a prof. is.
