Professor Spencer is a very good professor and whether students belive it or not, she cares a lot about her students and how they do in class. She is harsh and strict and to the point and I don't think that a lot of students are used to that. She was fired by UW because they said she wasn't "accredited". Although she was definitely opinionated, she was passionate about the subject. The readings were a bit much but the open note exams made up for that. Thanks to all the bad reviews though Spring 2010 was her last semester at UW.Rate My Professors ↗
The course itself is very interesting. I definitely learned a lot. When it comes to the professor and her interaction with students, she can really come off rude. If you don't agree with her about an idea or concept, she'll shut you down in front of the class. It made me want to stop talking in class. By far the worst prof I've had at UW. (I'm a senior) She assigns way too many readings and doesn't go over much in class. She just talks about whatever she is feeling, usually that we (the students) should be doing better in the class. She is VERY intimidating and you will not want to go to class, but it is mandatory. She is very strict and really intimidating. Lots of reading, it is really hard to stay on top of everything because there is so much and the material is so dense. Never fully cover anything in class because there was so much and we never had time. Tests are hard, open note but hard. If you don't need this class DONT take it!Rate My Professors ↗
She is very strict, but it is still relatively easy to get an A. Exams are open book/open note, there are critical responses of the readings due each week, and attendance in mandatory--it is very easy to get points in this class if you do the work.Rate My Professors ↗
