About this rating

Raw average: 4.22/5 from 59 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

I loved Professor Young for IS101!! If you go to lecture and do the readings the tests are super manageable and the two essays are not hard and we were given a lot of time and support. He is clearly very passionate about this course and the enthusiasm makes lectures more engaging. If you are interested in Econ and IR I would highly recommend.

Quality 4/5Difficulty 2/5
Lectures were very engaging and easy to follow. Grade is based on a weekly homework assignment, two papers (one group paper and one individual paper), and three exams that were reasonably easy. Lectures were recorded and posted online, along with the slides so everything was pretty accessible.

Quality 4/5Difficulty 2/5
Attending lectures is super helpful because many examples Professor Young gives in class can be used on the exams, same with the readings (worth even just skimming). Doing the worksheets throughout the course makes writing the final paper so much easier and I would definitely recommend choosing a TNC for the topic. Textbook isn't super important.

Super good guy. Reasonable with grading and tests. One homework assignment every week and somewhat interesting lectures. TAs were great. Would give extra credit acouple times and weeks off of work. Great class!! Recommend.

The class is like Human Geography, Economics, and Politics had a baby. It is super easy and lectures are recorded and posted online, so I stopped going in person. Prof Young is British so it was difficult for me to understand him for the first few weeks. The class was boring, but it is a pre-rec for my major.
