Worst professor I've ever had at Madison. Very opinionated, if he doesn't like you, you won't do well...Rate My Professors ↗

(Actually for AF129, the main FIG class for Africa on a Global Scale) This class was pretty interesting, but is very project and field trip heavy. However, if you express interest in your work and participate, you will be fine. (He did inadvertently make us pay for ingredients to make something for a class dinner and an uber)Rate My Professors ↗

Terrible professor, assigns inaccessible material that would require paying extra and is really niche. Would ask niche questions that wouldn't really connect to anything. Cool articles but i can't say i've learned anything substantial about the african diaspora. Spent so much time on the class and gained nothing from itRate My Professors ↗

I thought the class was really dumb, but I can see where some might find it interesting. Kinda a tough grader for no apparent reason. Participation is super important. Half of class is just the professor making niche references and being shocked when no one knows who invented Palm Wine music or that no one speaks Afrikaans. Course code AFR129.Rate My Professors ↗

Professor England is one of my favorite professors I have ever had in undergrad. His lectures are extremely engaging, and he is highly knowledgeable. Class = reading-heavy, but nothing more than I would expect for this level and content. Offers lots of extra credit and is very reachable through email and office hours. Put in work and be rewarded!!Rate My Professors ↗

Hours of prep material for each class which adds up. Is passionate about the course but you have to teach yourself. Frustrating to know what the learning objectives are for exam prep. Exams felt extremely difficult for anyone without background in the Middle East.Rate My Professors ↗
