One of the most caring professors I have met at UW-Madison. Levine is a smart person who gained his Ph.D. degree at Warton. He shared a lot of interesting news and analyzed them using stuff we learned in class. He truly cares about our success. TAKE HIS CLASS.Rate My Professors ↗
Overall, a good professor. Made class interesting by discussing current events (my favorite part) which were sometimes related to the content in class. Tests seemed pretty hard compared to the content covered in the online lectures. Walked through problems in class to help with the problem sets. Prof. Levine is a really smart guy and is very passionate about financial markets. He covers a lot of real-world financial events that don't necessarily have a lot to do with the class, but it's still finance related material and if you're taking this class, you should really know this stuff. Levine is a PhD in econ, tenured, and has only worked in academia. He cant bring material down to an undergrad level and Qs on exams reflect this. Qualitative Qs are about formulas and he only shows hard problems. Lectures are dry and he wastes time by talking about irrelevant current events and continuing ppts from the start not where he left offRate My Professors ↗
Professor Levine is fine. He's a decent lecturer, but often talks about real-world events that don't seem to apply to the material; he'll often talk about them at a level many students don't understand. It's nice he lets you choose your groups for problem sets/projects, but the two cases were due before the material was ever even covered.Rate My Professors ↗
Overall a good class & I would take this class with Professor Levine again. Problem set questions are taken from the recommended textbook (can check out in the library reserves & answer key can be found with a google search). Multiple choice questions on the exams were harder than expected. Lectures brought in real world news/issues which I liked.
