About this rating

Raw average: 4.46/5 from 39 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

MATH 222

Fabien was one of the nicest professors I've ever met. The class itself is really hard but I went to office hours often and he was really understanding when I asked for an exam regrade. I did well in the class due to hard work and lots of studying before midterms. The practice exams are very accurate to the actual thing

Dry lecture style, especially compared to some other profs. Hard to stay engaged. Maurice didn't really go above and beyond in any way, just explained the material as it is. Tests are worth almost your whole grade, but course is structured in a way that if you go to discussion, do the homework, and seek help when you need it, you should be fine.

Professor has a clear and concise (but dry) way of explaining material in lecture, but this is a quick moving class. Attend office hours or MLC for all the matters you are unclear about because he's great at answering specific problems. Three tests are 87% of your grade with a max. ~1% curve so study well in advance because it's unforgiving.

Although he was really nice and was happy to answer questions (which I appreciated), I will say that the lectures were very boring and structured weirdly. Very hard not to fall asleep. And very much a tough grader. Unfortunate how well I did on midterms, only for test anxiety to take the best out of me on the final and for my entire grade to fall.

Fabien was great! Math 222 was a hard class in general, but he did a great job explaining even the toughest concepts. He went through the content slowly to make it easier to keep up and understand. I would highly recommend him!

Worst thing was prof. Fabien has classes in the early hours and I kept falling asleep. The lectures are so dull and cover everything in the syllabus in too much detail. I had to learn everything from the book because I'm bored and have ADHD. I want lectures that do not need work outside of lecture.
