Love Marlene! However, she is difficult to read and honestly I have no idea how I got a good grade in the class. My big piece of advice, participate and always ask questions. If she sees that you want to get better she will like your spirit and "moxy". She is a great teacher I have improved exponentially in ballet since taking the class.Rate My Professors ↗
Overly tough; antiquated ideas. She likes you or she doesn't. Don't have a long, leggy ballerina body? Then NO HOPE of getting an A (despite being accepted to the dance program). HORRIBLE lecturer for Dance 165- she will not offer further insight on the material, because she recites from a book rather than truly knowing the material as she should.Rate My Professors ↗
Poor lecturer, very repetitive, and basically reads to you for an hour and fifteen minutes. Poor quality videos are used (grainy/fuzzy) that put you to sleep. REFUSES to answer any exam questions, REFUSES to clarify something you question her on. Talented at ballet, should not be a lecturer.Rate My Professors ↗
Ballet 225 was a great class. It's not necessarily a class to take for fun, but you will improve and you will work your butt off. Marlene is a great professor with a great eye for technique and artistry. She doesn't like affectation - she likes clarity, efficiency, and proper technique. I had Marlene for Ballet Technique I and she completely changed me. I hated ballet before having her class and was taking it for the Dance Major. After having Marlene, I can say that I love ballet and she is the reason. I love Marlene so much, she's tough but reasonable, and I can't wait for ballet with her next semester.Rate My Professors ↗
