About this rating

Raw average: 3.86/5 from 14 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Did a lot of talking. Readings were not super essential IMO -- and too long. He goes over the most important parts in lecture. What is said in lecture WILL be on the test.

Lucas is a great professor. He is super knowledgable about the the material and I found the lectures to be really interesting. Definitely show up to the lectures because they really help supplement the long readings you are asked to do. Discussion is okay but I think its the TA that makes or breaks it. If you put in the work you'll be fine.

I had 202 with Lucas and took 561 because I liked his eloquence and lecture style. Lectures were based off of the theories proposed in weekly intense readings, and sometimes were incredibly boring (going over the history of paper...). Lucas is eloquent and easy to follow + take notes. Discussion sections were helpful in dissecting readings.

J202 was a breeze with Lucas. He's very clear and knowledgeable, and showed our discussion group that he cared about and acknowledged our hard work throughout our projects. Labs are insufferable (partially due to TA, partially due to 9am) but the pacing kept me on track and content we were taught to produce was really rewarding in the end.

Professor Graves was enthusiastic and knowledgable about the content. The course was VERY reading heavy (one intense reading assigned per lecture) and lectures were spent breaking down readings that were assigned for that day. I was disappointed because none of the ideas felt like his own, just reflections of readings. Ok class, just not my style.

Professor Graves is an absolutely brilliant teacher. He's deeply knowledgable and is extremely encouraging of people who participate. The way he articulates information is very useful and makes it easy to take detailed notes. I didn't initially care about the topic, but left loving it because of his demeanor and support. You will learn a ton!
