Professor Mayer is engaging and clearly passionate about the material. The readings can be lengthy but are generally worthwhile. If you attend lectures and use resources like the study guide and review sessions, you'll do well. Unstuck ai was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.

Long readings every week, from two different books. Make sure to do them since they are usually not covered in the lectures. Very few assignments outside of tests.

Prof Mayer is clearly passionate and is a very engaging lecturer. The readings can be long but mostly are worth while and interesting. If you come to lecture consistently and pay attention you will be fine. The course is test heavy but if you fill out the study guide provided and attend the review session you will be fine. He is a good prof and guy

Dr. Mayer gives very clear lectures and cracks many jokes along the way. He is very willing to take questions and readings are a major aspect of this class.

So much reading, 150p/week lectures are rants does not prepare for exam, no review questions, terms sheets, just general topics current events heavy brings dog to office sometimes short answer on exam really hard

Prof. Mayer is a really good, funny guy and he was good at lecturing but this class was SOOOOO incredibly boring I couldn't even bring myself to do the work. There was a LOT of reading and I found it so boring that I lost all motivation, I took AP Gov in highschool which helped me do well on the tests. Avoid if you aren't interested in politics!
