I absolutely loved this class. The course material was super interesting, and Professor Harackiewicz was very passionate about it. However, know that if you do not read the textbook, you will not pass. The textbook chapters are fairly easy reads, so as long as you stay on top of it you should be fine! 10/10 would take this class again.Rate My Professors ↗
I love professor H, but her tests are not great. The wording is super specific and the answer options make you choose between two options that would both fit the question. you HAVE to read the textbook and take note of experiments. You're graded on three exams which is annoying as well. I liked this class but I definitely had to work for it.Rate My Professors ↗
It's harder than you think it'll be. 3 tests make up 90% of your grade. VERY TEXTBOOK HEAVY. Most psych classes textbook is kinda optional, but this class it is VERY ESSENTIAL. Go to her office hours and your TAs. If you show her that you care and are committed, she will help you out. Brought my grade up by two whole letters. She's funny and sweet.Rate My Professors ↗
Would not recommend. Content itself is interesting, grading system for this class is awful. No matter how much you study, her exams are really confusing, wordy, frustrating, difficult, etc. I'm a straight-A student and got 47% on the first exam. No other grades besides 3 exams and 1 paper, so her terrible bs exams are all your grade is based on.Rate My Professors ↗
This class is tough and requires effort. The material itself would be amazing if it were taught in a way the emphasized learning over test taking. I was told this was a good first psych class but it does require a lot of effort. This class makes you question your knowledge of common sense, as everything you learn (which, by the way, is entirely out of the mandatory textbook) seems simple, but the tests are so specific that no matter how much you study the prof will throw in some stupid questions.
