Very unprepared for classes, only reiterating the points made in class readings. Grading criteria is very unclear and I (only a few weeks from the end of the semester) have only received 2 grades back out of a total of 10 assignments submitted. He frequently goes on unrelated tangents and allows students to delve into unrelated anecdotes in class.Rate My Professors ↗

This man is the definition of an ideal teacher. He comes to class every day and engages his students through humorous and meaningful lectures. Shumow is the best lecturer Ive had at Madison, and hes not even in academia, hes an actual real estate lawyer. The readings get long and dull due to a lot of legal terminology, but shumow could take the most boring reading and make it incredibly interesting. I laughed at least once a week. Great professor! Lectures are never boring because he always keeps students involved. He cold calls using a deck of cards, so be ready. It really makes sure you're prepared for class and never behind. He's a funny guy who knows his stuff and cares about his students.
