Joris is truly an amazing guy!!! His lectures are very detailed, structured, and well-explained. His homework is generally not easy, but if you put in some effort you will be fine. Math 522 was one of the hardest courses I've ever taken period but I learned sooo much and found it super worth it. We used mostly notes that he provided that I found extremely clear. Indeed Roos provided the most detailed lecture materials among all the courses I took this semester though he is a tough grader. He prepared for the class very well and kept updating the notes on his webpage, it was quite convenient and clear. Midterm is toughly graded but if you read the theorm carefully you will be ok on the final.Rate My Professors ↗
Indeed, he is a tough grader and homework is really hard, but hey, this ain't a top 20 program for no reason. Read the lecture notes and understand them well, and you should be fine. He will grade even tougher if you use notation he didn't define, so don't do it, be precise. If you like Analysis, this is your guy, if you don't, then he's not.Rate My Professors ↗
Terrible, terrible professor. Lectures are very dense and he goes really fast with the material. Homework is 5 problems every week, and only two of the problems are graded, so good luck! Only gives out homework sketches, so you never really get a full answer. Doesn't use the book at all, he has his own lecture notes.Rate My Professors ↗
