Prof Fischer is an old school professor: he gives you the information and tools, and the rest is up to you. Don't expect easy homework or exams, he definitely makes you work for it. For Fall 2020, our exams were take home and we were allowed to collaborate, which made things nice. Definitely take this class seriously.

Pretty laidback class, if taken online. The tests are 'takehome' so you have a week or so to work on them. All the lectures are prerecorded so you can watch them at your leisure, and Ismor is very clear in all of them. Honestly out of any class I took this semester his was the best organized (everything switched to online for me).

The man isn't helpful in his emails, there were no office hours, there was one ta who graded everything, the professor reused his old lecture videos from last year so halfway through October he just stopped having to work. Ismor Fischer does not care about his students at all and I learned nothing from his lectures or the class overall.

Prof. Fischer handled the transition to online courses very well. He made himself very accessible, and if you emailed him for help (which he encouraged), he gave very good feedback and resources to learn more. Only qualm is you're graded by only a few things so any mistake you make will affect your grade more than it would in another class.
